Dr. Karla Higginbotham’s Background
Dr. K’s philosophy goes beyond treating symptoms. She understands that true wellness involves mental health, stress, relationships, and the impact of life’s broader challenges. She’s open to discussing any topic, ensuring her patients feel seen and heard.
A passionate mentor and educator, Dr. K served as Chief Resident, has taught as a Core Faculty Member family medicine, and has instructed as an Assistant Adjunct Professor at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill’s College of Medicine. She’s deeply committed to preventative care, chronic disease management, and women’s health, with a special focus on improving healthcare for Black patients. By addressing disparities and advocating for culturally competent care, Dr. K works to ensure every patient gets the care they deserve.
Outside of medicine, Dr. K is a devoted wife and mother to three bright and loving children. Genuine, compassionate, and always real, Dr. K is someone you can trust to be your partner in all things health and wellness.
